Temple Brith Sholom Cemetery was originally created as a consecrated Jewish cemetery in accordance with traditional concepts of Judaism. The cemetery is now divided into two areas located within the Cortland Rural Cemetery.
Section A is maintained to adhere to strict Jewish traditions and is reserved for the use of those who, at the time of death, are of the Jewish faith.
Section B shall be reserved for those who at the time of their death are of the Jewish faith, as well as their spouse, partner, or child regardless of their religious faith.
Cremated remains are permitted in Section B only.

INFORMATION
The intention of the following requirements is to ensure the sanctity, dignity, and appropriate maintenance of the cemetery of Temple Brith Sholom located within Cortland Rural Cemetery in Cortland, New York. Rules and regulations for plot purchase, interment, and maintenance are as follows:
· Cemetery plots may be purchased at the time of death or any time prior by contacting a committee member.
· The use of an approved funeral director is suggested. The funeral director will advise about Jewish funeral rites and oversee interment.

· Monument size cannot exceed 30 inches wide and 27 inches high for a single plot (or 37 inches wide and 34 inches high including base). For a double plot monuments may not exceed 48 inches wide and 48 inches high (or 60 inches wide and 56 inches high including base).
· Monument materials other than stone must be presented to the Cemetery Committee for approval.
·In our cemetery, it is customary for men to be buried to the left of their spouse, but this is not mandatory.
·Planting around monuments requires Cemetery Committee approval. The cost of plantings and maintenance are the family’s responsibility. The committee retains the right to remove any plants that become overgrown or unsightly.
No funerals are permitted on Saturdays or Jewish holidays.
Cremated remains are permitted in Section B only.

·Right To Interment in the Jewish Section of CRC $1000.
(includes grounds care) Total $2000.
Total fees are to be paid prior to interment directly to:

or to your funeral director for distribution as appropriate.

Social Hall Use
Use of Temple Brith Sholom’s social hall is available for an additional fee. Use of the sanctuary for funerals is prohibited.
Members $250. Non-Members $400.
